COVID-19

Clinic Update (March, 25, 2020)

Dear Tocar Spa Community,

As you have probably heard by now, all businesses deemed “Non-Essential” have been shut down by Governor Hogans order as of 5:00 pm Monday, March 23rd. This order, unfortunately, includes therapeutic massage practices such as ours.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 coronavirus situation closely and keep you informed of any changes with the clinic schedule. While we don’t have an exact date, we plan to re-open for business as soon as it is safe to do so. Hopefully, this will be in line with the Maryland public school system’s tentative plan to re-open after April 24th. In the meantime please stay safe and continue your in-home self-care wellness routines as best as you can.

If you have an existing appointment(s) scheduled through the end of April, I will personally reach out to discuss your rescheduling options. Thank you for your understanding and loyalty to small businesses such as ours. We truly appreciate your support during these challenging times and are committed to your health and wellbeing.

Our Safe Clinical Policies and Practices (March 16, 2020)

Dear Tocar Spa Community,

In response to the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spread we are on high alert and exercising heightened measures to prevent the possible spread of transmission within our clinic. We want to take a moment to give you peace of mind by reminding you that holding a healthy clean space for each and every one of you has always has been a priority for us at Tocar Spa.

We take the cleanliness of our clinic very seriously and practice the highest level of sterilization when it comes to conducting our services. We have a nightly cleaning service that is taking extra precautions in cleaning our space, which includes wiping down frequently touched workspaces, doors, door handles, elevator call buttons, faucets, etc.  We are also taking additional measures listed below.

Keeping our clients and staff safe

As part of our normal practice and adhering with the Center of Disease Control (CDC) recommendations, all therapists will continue to wash their hands and arms (past the elbow) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This will happen frequently throughout the day and particularly prior to and after each massage session.

We are requiring any staff member to stay home if they are feeling sick or have had symptoms of any kind, including but not limited to: cold, flu, cough, sneezing, shortness of breath, fever, chills, body aches, and hospitalization.

For the sake of clarity, and consistency with CDC recommendations, we are asking that clients not come to Tocar Spa if they have or have recently experienced symptoms of the flu or other respiratory illnesses, have been in close contact with anyone who has had or has these symptoms, or have travelled internationally recently. Affected clients should not return to Tocar Spa for an appointment until all symptoms have subsided and that individual is free of fever and cold symptoms for at least 48 hours.

We have implemented a temporary ban on touching faces and the treatment of hands.

Additional measures:

  • Creating a longer buffer period between clients to sanitize treatment rooms
  • Removing fitted fleece face pad covers
  • Removing fleece blankets during sessions
  • Replacing fabric lounge seats in the treatments rooms with plastic lounge seats
  • Adding touchless hand sanitizer dispensers in treatment rooms

Treatment Room Cleaning Policies

Each therapist is required to perform the following procedures after each therapy session:

  • Wipe down all contacted surfaces with disinfectant. These surfaces include: fans, remotes, door handles (interior and exterior), oil bottles, treatment table, treatment stool, and face/headrest, countertops, cabinets, and towel warmers.
  • Change massage table sheets
  • Change face rest cover
  • Thoroughly wash hands for at least 20 seconds after each session

Intake questions to expect at your next appointment:

  • How are you feeling today?
  • Have you recently experienced a cold, any respiratory distress, flu or flu-like symptoms?
  • Have you recently travelled internationally?
  • If so, have you been back in the US for more than 15 days?
  • Do you know, or have you been in close contact with, anyone travelling to these countries or experiencing symptoms of the Coronavirus?

Please let us know if you have further questions about maintaining your safety while keeping your appointment schedule. Most importantly, please take good care of yourself during this critical time. We will honor cancellations without penalty should you suddenly find that you are feeling ill or experiencing symptoms within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. Any late cancellations occurring within 24 hours of a scheduled appointment are subject to our cancellation policy.

We trust that you will make safe decisions regarding your own health and that you will not come in if there is a chance you have been exposed to the virus or if you are experiencing symptoms.

Your cooperation is appreciated and necessary in order to keep our community safe and healthy!
